Bloggy

back to (blog) school time…

Earlier on Twitter, I asked, “Do you ever get miffed when you don’t see your blog on someone else’s blog list? Like upset or just think “they probably forgot” ?”

.
I’ll admit this happened to me this morning, and I’m not sure if I reconciled it yet, as I’m pretty certain I used to be there but I was taken off. [A big note to say I’m sorry that I did something to upset you and hope we can be blog-friends again, oh anonymous blog writer you!] But no matter, I realize that this feeling is something that generally sucks, especially when you invest a lot of time sharing with others. And I’d like to make sure you don’t experience that same feeling here.
.
I’ve always had a “My Readers” category in google reader, but I kept it private. I’ve now added the list my public blogroll and I want you to check to make sure you’re on it! Blogging isn’t fun when it’s a one-way street… so if I’ve missed adding your blog, just let me know here! Or, if you’re a reader (and not a commenter), go ahead and leave your link as well.

I’m pretty sure this has happened to me too (someone said they updated their blogroll; I noticed I wasn’t on it anymore) but I realized that person made me vomit so I shouldn’t have cared. :) Haha. But if it’s someone I truly like I think I’d have been totally sad!!!

I don’t have a blogroll because, well I have no idea how to make one on Xanga and don’t feel like learning, but mostly because I KNOW I am not reading everyones’ blogs that I should. I love so many people and I know a lot of them start new blogs all the time and I don’t really keep up. This is kind of a shitty way to do it but I pretty much just read the blogs of everyone that comments on my blog. I know they’re reading so I definitely read them back!

blogrolls are so hard to maintain if I wasn’t just pulling them like I am. I try my best to add new people from comments too, but often miss who is new and who isn’t. I think trying to keep the chain rolling is the most important part!

I don’t know how you read the blogs of all your readers with a baby. I read almost zero blogs anymore, I just don’t have time to keep up with my own site and manage everything else. I think it’s really cool that you are making a list of those who read. I just noticed your widget that lists top commenters on your site, and I’ve added one to TW as well. It’s a really nice way to recognize the people who visit every day!

I read all of my readers’ blogs first… then Bee blogs… then “others.” I read a lot of them on my iphone at night/in the morning. I love blogging because of the community it creates, not just sharing what I did/know/found, so I have to read if I’m going to post! Baby M and I are on a really great schedule right now, and life keeps going on like before, just don’t have as much time to rest “between” things anymore!

Since I don’t comment much (ever?), I thought I’d stop by and say hello.

I love the instructions to update your blogroll and I think it’s a great way to keep things updated.

That’s so nice of you to keep a blogroll with your readers linked up. I noticed I was dropped from a blogroll awhile back, and it stung a bit. I figured it probably has at least a little to do with the fact that I don’t have ANY blogroll on my site, so yeah…perhaps the person felt like linking me was a one-way street. I do appreciate being linked up though…something I’ll take into consideration for sure, and maybe I’ll finally go on and put a blogroll on my site sometime soon. Thanks for the inspiration and discussion :)

I’m a loyal reader, just often too shy to comment. But I do love your blog, and even won a set of the breast cancer awareness stamps from Ford/Martha Stewart last year :)

I sometimes wonder I wonder why they didn’t include me. And it’s probably no reason, but I worry that my blog is uncool.
I also try to keep updating my blogroll based on who comments. And add them to my reader so I see the post and can click over and comment on their blog. Sometimes I fall behind and have to play catch up.

how would i check your public blogroll? i never thought about that before but now you’ve made me all sorts of curious!

i actually don’t really notice when someone has me on their blogroll. usually i’m surprised to find out that i am! makes me feel kinda warm and fuzzy inside that someone enjoys my writing that much to want to share :-)

  • LatteLove

I’ve had that feeling before, although I don’t think I’m on a lot of people’s blog lists.
I try not to feel bad, because I don’t want anyone to feel guilted into posting up my blog address!

So if you really like my blog, feel free to add mine. But please don’t feel like you must just because I’m a reader here! :-)

I have a short blog roll list but I took it off my blog. Now that I learned how to add tabs to my blog, I think I will create a new one!

  • Katie

Oh man, it is hard to maintain a current list….since I switched over to the new site I’ve been trying to build up a new blog roll…it is taking me forever and does take a little bit of investigation. I’m terrified of missing someone!

I’m a fairly new reader, but followed you closely on wedding bee. Just thought I’d say hi and thanks for sharing your life. I only have a few blogs that I read, but they’re listed under “inspiration” on my blog and you’re one of them. :)

  • Rachel

I found your blog on your facebook and haven’t commented before. Your daughter is totally adorable and I love hearing all of your sweet and funny stories! Feel free to follow me for some (hopefully!) amusing posts about learning how to be married :).

Thanks for having such an awesome blogroll (and blog).
I’m pretty much convinced that the only people reading my dumb wedding blog are my mom, MIL, her best friend, and my best friend. Not even my fiance reads my blog!
