#birthdayfest2014: tuesday is for trinkets
I was wandering through Amsterdam on a Sunday in the summer of 2001 when I walked past a jewelry store that was closed, but in the window were the most beautiful and colorful necklaces I’d ever seen. They were costume-style pieces, but extravagant and bold and just the most gorgeous shades of the rainbow. As these things happen when you’re wandering through a foreign country, we never ended up walking by that store on a day it was open during the next week of our stay, and I never got to purchase any of those wares. But deep in my heart I still yearn for what I saw in that window that day…
When I happened upon some ridiculously bright baubles earlier this Spring with the same allure, I swiped them up without even hesitating. And then I went and bought a second set with April in mind.

I go through such jewelery phases – where I just wear one piece over and over again. Right now it’s a silver “twig” pendant necklace.

Love the bright punches of color! My favorite piece of jewelry is a staple piece – silver knot earrings. They’re dressy enough for a formal occasion, but I also wear them to work all the time since they’re pretty durable and go with everything!

My engagement ring- yellow sapphire – and wedding band will always be my favorite. But my little diamond studs that I got for college graduation aren’t far behind!!

My favorite piece is a graduated pearl necklace. My grandfather gave it to my grandmother when he was stationed in Korea. They were such romantics…she kept the card that came with it and he kept the receipt. I have all three and happily wear it whenever I can. I love your Amsterdam story!!
