digital scrapbooking day!
You may or may not be quite into the latest incarnation of the scrapbooking phenomenon, but “digi-scrapping” is getting to be quite huge. It’s not hard to make awesome photobooks, photocards and just awesome stuff for your website/blog. And to celebrate the 2nd annual DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY, many of the artists/companies selling these graphics and kits are celebrating with specials, tutorials and freebies this weekend!
Check here for an exhaustive list of stores offering discounted products today, this weekend and thru next week. Some designers are offering cheap “grab bags” (remember those awesome secret bags they’d have at Sanrio?!? Oh I loved those!) with surprise collections that have yet to be released. I got a really great one from my favorite designer, Kim Higurea at scrapbook-elements.com, with about 150MB worth of goodies!
And if you’re a bit confused, or just intrigued, as to what these files actually include, here are some great free resources you can download and play with:
– A Bunny Hop from gottapixel.com with free sets at every stop! (some awesome sets out there!)
– Great freebie sets at oscraps.com
– And a full round-up of lots of freebies offered at DigiFree!
So take a look and have fun with a new hobby! I know my photobooks will have a little extra added “oomph” from now on!

I usually check on http://digifree.blogspot.com/ for free kits. Some days the list is better than others.

@Heidi – Thanks so much for the link! I’ll have to add it to my RSS feeder!

Thanks for sharing. After spending a bundle of money and time on our wedding album, I decided that I would be doing digital albums in the future.
I guess its time to get started. =)

@Kim – I’ve loved ours so far… just need to keep up with taking more photos! I smell a new year’s resolution there…

I tried to get into it a couple of years ago but the software was so huge and came with 4 dfferent CDs so it would always tell me to insert disk 3 or 4 etc…. and I lost interest quickly. I do love what I’ve seen on some people’s webpage though so cool! thanks for sharing.

@Kimberly B….. – OMG! I remember those software packages that were just way toooo much! These graphics collections are cumbersome, but I like that there are lots of “pre-sets” now… grab and go for an album!

My favorite site for digi-scrappin is http://www.twopeasinabucket.com They also sell products for traditional scrapbooking, but if you search their “digikits”, you can find some really great brushes and vintage overlays for your photographs in addition to digital papers and other accents.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the really kitschy looking kits that I find on alot of digital scrapbooking sites, but I do really like Two Peas (and they have a really great community on the site with TONS of project inspiration). I even used a few of their products when I designed different elements for our wedding.
