scenes from the big island of Hawaii
It might seem like forever ago, but back in November we escaped with our parents (both sets!) to the Big Island of Hawaii for a week in paradise. While I’d made numerous visits to Maui and Oahu while growing up, this was my first visit here, and let me just say our stay in Kailua-Kona was pretty magical!
We drove around the whole island and made it to Volcanos National Park…
We went inside a lava tube (which allegedly resembled something incredibly scary from a Harry Potter movie??? Oops!)…
… and then waited for the sun to set on the crater!
We took a boat to go snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay (by the Captain Cook Monument)…
… ate some shaved ice (of course!)…
… and stopped to see the ancient grounds of Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park…
… and some wonderful petrogylphs too!
I’ll be following up with some “trip takeaway” posts as I prep some advice for one of Miss L’s best friends who is headed there in a few weeks as well!
