blackberries on Apple Hill
In what is quickly becoming a summer tradition in the M household, we headed up to Apple Hill the other weekend for some berry picking. The last trip was almost two years ago, and Miss L was really just “toddling” around as she picked them with delight.
This year, she was a bit more aggressive and determined, to pick the most berries AND carry her own basket up and down the hill.
Shades on… bucket ready!
Down the hill we go!
Ignore the red berries… you’ve got to hunt to find the black ones that are ripe!
“Is this one ripe? Can I try it Momma?”
Back up the hill with her loaded bucket in tow… and yes, she did pick the most of all of us!
After the picking and the purchasing, we retreated from the rising heat and relaxed in the shade and enjoyed some berries and our packed snacks.
When we got back home, we did what everyone should do with 4 lbs of freshly picked Triple Crown blackberries:
We baked a pie!!! (And it was mighty yummy!) Here’s the recipe for the blackberry pie… if you’re so incline!
