It’s here! It’s finally here! If you know me, then you know that I adore college basketball like nothing else. (You would also likely decline an invitation from me to watch said basketball games in person, because well, you value your hearing more than our friendship) And since I won’t be attending any basketball tournament games this year (countdown to 2017 begins now Sacramento!), I’ll have to do all that screaming and yelling and “crazy basketball Kim” stuff from the couch at home. So I thought I’d make the experience a bit more special this year with some treats the whole family could enjoy: Basketball OREO Cookies!
Ingredients/Materials:
- Melting chocolate wafers (milk or dark – your choice!)
- Orange Candy Melts
- Double Stuf OREO Cookies
- Small plastic squeeze bottle
- OREO Cookies chocolate mold (like this one!)
Directions
Step 1: Melt a few of the chocolate wafers in your squeeze bottle. Use the bottle to draw basketball outlines inside your mold. When you’re done, place your mold in the freezer for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Melt your orange candy melts! Let them cool a little so that it doesn’t melt your basketball lines. Take your mold out of the freezer and place just enough of the orange chocolate to cover up your lines. Place back in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Melt your chocolate! Take the mold out of the freezer and add a spoonful of melted chocolate to each. Place 1 Double Stuf OREO cookie in each mold and push down slightly. Place in freezer for 5 minutes. Take out of the freezer and pour enough melted chocolate over each cookie to cover it completely in the mold. Freeze for 15 minutes.
Step 4: Take the cookies out of the freezer, gently pop them out of the mold and ENJOY!
Now for the other snacks around the house during “epic basketball game watching madness” : Coke Zero & REESE’S peanut butter cup minis! (p.s. use Target’s Cartwheel App from 3/15-4/4 for a free coupon for the REESE’S!) We seriously don’t mess around when it comes to treats and basketball! While we can only smuggle in so much goodness to live games, we go crazy with the chocolate at home!
It was easy to round them all up at our local Target.
The Coca-Cola product of choice in our household is Mr. M’s favorite: Coke Zero. This Spring, be on the lookout for You Don’t Know Zero ‘Til You’ve Tried It! Coke Zero and Target will allow consumers to try a Coke Zero through “Drinkable” advertising which takes traditional advertising elements and makes them actually drinkable – leading to a free 20oz. Coke Zero at Target! Consumers can participate in these unbelievable experiences through a drinkable TV spot, jumbotron and even at CokeZero.com beginning April 2nd. Just come thirsty with your Shazam app ready!
So, fellow March maniacs… what special treats will be you be indulging in as you celebrate in the upcoming weekends? Or what will be used to drown your sorrows? I need a list stat… because my happiness/sadness starts at noon on Thursday!
May the odds be ever in your alma maters (or brackets) favor!
