#reverb10 – day 14
December 14 – Appreciate
Prompt: What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it?
(Author: Victoria Klein)
Patience.
I remember back in my TFA days that the motto of the 2-year experience seemed to be patience. Take a deep breath, calm yourself down, and wait. When you think all hope is lost in your class, your school, your district or throughout the country, just inhale, relax and wait. I’m pretty certain it took me two years to master that lesson, but in the end, it paid off. Patience didn’t mean that you didn’t act with a sense of urgency, or care less about things in motion, it just meant that you let things roll for a bit to see what happens.
I’m grateful that I learned to be patient with children. I’m grateful that my husband and family are patient with me. And every situation that arises where someone could have easily flown off the handle, I try my best to thank them profusely for their patience at that moment.
