A RunDisney August Recap: The D23 Expo Fun Run

In August, I ran 21.6 RunDisney miles at the Disneyland Resort. Three separate events = 3 giant medals and 1 itty bitty one.

D23 Expo Fun Run

To start, I was lucky enough to get an invitation into the #D23Expo fun run on the morning of August 9th. It was the opening event to the Disney fan-fest known as the D23 Expo (see my recaps over on This Happy Place Blog here & here) and since I wasn’t going to run all weekend, I figured why not just wake up early and go!

And honestly, when you’re greeted by this guy at 5:30am, you’re kind of all smiles no matter what!

Our route sent us directly across the street from the Anaheim Convention Center, aka. CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE, where we managed to easily run 2.3 miles before our swift return. Instead of posting endless photos of me looking gross and sweaty and awkward (why must all running photogs shoot UP?!?), I’m going to share this amazing video with you instead from fellow Fun Runner Keith Lapinig.

I also got to meet up with and chat with other avid RunDisney runners/tweeters like @megan_biller @JulieKom @happygeekgirl and (not pictured) even SparkleSkirt guru/super runner @according2kelly.

AND… I got to meet this awesome lady:

Ali Vincent from the Biggest Loser (and LIVE BIG! with Ali) ! I always watched BL with sort of passive attention span until this lady came on suddenly I was so darn invested. So meeting her and knowing that she’s just as positive and awesome as you’d expect was a really pleasant surprise!

Also at the event were two legacy runners for the WDW Marathon who have run the event annually for the past 20 years! WOW!

Since it had been over 18 months since my first and only #RunDisney magical morning (for the 1st Tinker Bell Half), it definitely lit the fire of excitement again. Good thing I had two “magical race mornings” in store just a few weeks later…

And while there was no neck bling for us from the event, we didn’t leave empty handed!

We were each given a RunDisney vinlymation Mickey, and HE got a special little LE medal made just for the event! Now how cute is that??

(to be continued with the DL Half Marathon weekend…)

Ah! Not my blog, but my wonderful friend Estelle’s super awesome Disney blog that she lets me guest post to every now and then (I’m a horrible guest poster who gets zero comments!).
